Beech Boys Tandem racers and crew all came together for the first time this evening, with Adam travelling from Birmingham and James, Laura & Lydia from Sheffield to meet in Ulverston. Many thanks to Jonathan, Annie and Rowan for their hospitality, as we shared a meal together, filled water containers, mixed up energy drinks, arranged all the kit and food containers in the follow car and support vehicle, adjusted the chain tension on the tandem, etc.
A team photo was taken before it got dark, which you can see here. Back row: Laura, Jonathan, Rowan, James, Norman and Christine. Front row: Lydia and Adam. James has had a haircut courtesy of Laura which will make him more ‘hair’odynamic …!! Â (Jonathan will like that one.) Read more of the team member profiles on our website.
Before everyone headed for bed, we had a team talk from our crew chief Jonathan, who encouraged us to work together this weekend and get to know each other, since a good team will stand us in good stead for Race Around Ireland.
The plan for tomorrow is to set off at 5.30am to cycle the Fred Whitton route (112 miles), followed by a number of laps around Coniston Water, finishing in Ulverston on Sunday about 6.30am.
More news tomorrow – thank you so much for taking an interest.
