Crew Chief Jonathan visited JD Tandems in Gargrave with Norman today. This was to enable the tandem to have its 500 mile tune up. Jonathan was keen to see John at work on the bike and to pick up some top tips and handy hints on tandem bike tuning. It was like being in the pit lane at Silverstone! We were surrounded by top equipment, tools and expert mechanics. The Orbit Lightening Pro is really well set up and keeping it that way will be a lot easier after today’s master class. Our thanks to John, Ruth and Jamie at JD Tandems for making us so welcome – brilliant!
Other top news from the week. Thank you to Buff Headwear, who have come on board as one of our sponsors. Buff supported us when we rowed the Atlantic, as Beech Boys Atlantic, and it is really good to be assisted by them once again. We particularly like the Buff tag line ‘flat is boring’. We have some 73,000 feet of ascent to complete during our lap of Ireland, so nothing boring there!
Somehow we forgot to add this photo last week. It shows Christine with all the vacuum packed meals, cakes and wee buns that were produced while we were in Ireland staying with her mum . These are now safely in the freezer ready for collection in the early hours of 1st September!
