Can you hear cowbells?

The racers and crew were up promptly this morning and set off from Ulverston as planned at 5.30am, with a breakfast stop at 7.00am.

Adam has kindly offered his Discovery as the follow vehicle for this weekend and the Race Around Ireland route – so this was kitted out on Friday morning by Lakeland Landrover in Torver (one of our sponsors) with the appropriate light fittings on the roof.  Laura and Lydia are support drivers for the race, so they each had a practice this morning and were relieved to find it easier than they thought it would be!

A dry start to the day but typical Lake District weather with wind and rain has been thrown in for good measure, but it has failed to dampen the spirit of the team.

Jonathan packed some cowbells last night, and these are being rung at the top of each steep hill to celebrate the achievement and encourage Norman and James to keep going.

The team are pulling well together. The first hurdle was a problem with the support car this morning, involving a wheel change! All good experience for Ireland…..

Regular updates are being phoned in to the Race Control HQ based in Coniston, and we aim to keep you in the loop – both on this blog and on Facebook. Recent update at 12.15 reported that they had covered 73 miles and are planning a lunch stop at Whinlatter. If you are in the area – do give them a wave!

Due to poor mobile reception so far, the team has not been able to send any photos – but these should come through soon.  You will have to make do with a google image of a cowbell for now!cowbell
