Only 2 days to go!

tearfund logo2

Our fourth chosen charity is Tearfund and we have chosen to support their ‘No Child Taken’ project. A child is trafficked every 35 seconds, which means 14,400 children will be taken for human trafficking over the 5 days of the Race Around Ireland.

An example of what can be done:

£9 enrols a child on a series of trafficking awareness sessions

£12 gives a child a small business starter kit and livelihood training

£26 provides a family with trafficking awareness training, a livelihood kit and the practical help they need to keep children safe in school

See the link on our website to donate towards this amazing work.

It is still only the morning, but already a lot has happened.

Neil Smith from Radio Cumbria arrived this morning at 7.30am and interviewed Norman about the imminent race. Listen to it again on http://www.bbc.co.uk/radiocumbria/latest-programmes – the Mike Zeller Show.

At 9am our friend/hairdresser Sue came to give Norman a haircut to make him more hair-odynamic!

Adam has stayed overnight with Norman and Christine, so when Jonathan and Rowan arrive with the support van, we will set off to Cairnryan, picking Pat up at Stranraer train station, and James and Laura at Dublin airport. We will collect Lydia tomorrow evening from there.

The next blog will be from Ireland, as we will all be ready for a good night’s sleep at the Castle Arch Hotel when we arrive in Trim tonight, ready for whatever tomorrow holds…!
